The other thing that made the week not so pleasant was that Sean started acting like he didn't feel well on Monday of last week. By Tuesday he complained of a sore throat and he had a low grade fever. We were supposed to leave the following morning to spend Thanksgiving with Chris's family. Usually the 5-6 hour car ride is torture, but I was imagining what it would be like with sick kids as well. Not good! We considered not going for the sake of the kids and our own sanity. Also, as mentioned above, I didn't want to spread our illness to others. However, we are gluttons for punishment, so we decided to go ahead and make the trip. It started out OK, but about half way there Sean was crying saying he wanted to go home. He now had a tummy ache and an ear ache! The last half of the trip was miserable! I ended up sitting in the back seat with Sean and we moved Ellie's seat up front with Chris.
Once we got there though, everything seemed alright. At least for a while. The next day I started feeling crappy and I think the girls did too. Sean had a cough and I had a sore throat, but we made the best of it and had a good Thanksgiving dinner at Granny's house with all of the family! However, Thursday night Eleanor woke up (early morning I guess) and threw up (more like spit up), then she threw up a little more a second time. Thankfully she only got a little on herself the first time and we had something to catch it with the second time. Also by Friday morning I no longer had a voice and my throat was very sore and I also had a cough. Ouch! Getting back home on Friday was so wonderful!!! We are all still mending and now Chris is sick too, but I might finally have my voice back today. Yay!!! I can sing again! Needless to say, it will be a while before we make that treacherous journey again! They will be visiting us sometime around Christmas I think!
All that being said, I am thankful for my children...even when they are sick! I am thankful that even though the drive was rough, we did make it there and back safely! I am thankful for doctors who can prescribe medications to make us better, I am thankful that Chris is a good daddy when the kids get sick on him and he doesn't retreat! Lol! He's had plenty of experience with that! I am thankful that the "pink eye" only spread to the girls and spared the rest of us, and I am thankful for my voice! That may sound weird, but it was strange to not be able to speak clearly for a few of days. I really missed being able to sing along with the music on the radio when we were driving, and I really had a hard time getting the kids to obey me!
With all of the stuff going on I didn't get around to taking many pictures while we were there for Thanksgiving. But I did manage to snap these two of Eleanor when she climbed into the toy tub at Papa and Grandma's house!
