Windy Sunday

Chris's parents were here this weekend and we had a pleasant visit! The kids were excited to show Papa and Grandma their new house :-) This morning we all went to Walmart and they got each of the kids a few new clothes for Summer. Sean really wanted a camouflage hat just like Papa's, so we looked for a long time. They found some in the men's section, but they were a little big and Sean wasn't happy since they weren't exactly what he wanted. Then Chris's dad found one kind of hidden in the boy's section! Yay the day was saved :-)

After they left later in the day we went for a little drive with the kids to Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. I was hoping to see some buffalo because Sean had asked about buffalo a while back. I think he was getting them confused with a Moose.

We saw a man fishing in the lake on his boat

Lots of yucca

We also saw many other pretty wildflowers

The girls slept through some of it

We saw some Sand Hill Plums (at least I think that's what these are...) just starting to turn red

Here's my little bouquet of wildflowers

We stopped at the observation tower

The steps were insanely steep! That coupled with the crazy strong wind and carrying a child up the stairs was not so pleasant so we didn't stay up for long

We did see some buffalo though! :-)
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
And the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Home, home on the range

Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

  2. Did you get close enough to the buffalo to make Sean happy? We have buffalo about 5 miles from us and sometimes they are near the fence. They are insanely huge creatures, especially the males.

  3. We didn't get very close, but I think he was satisfied. We went to the zoo today and he got to see some much closer. They are huge creatures!
