2 1/2 weeks to catch up on

Sean got sick the last day of school, which was the last time that I posted here.  He was fine at school that day and he was fine for most of the afternoon, but as the night wore on he started feeling more and more sick and eventually he threw up and was miserable for a couple days.  He is better now, but Chris was the next to be sick, then Eleanor, then Chloe, and last Lily.  Lily didn't actually throw up, but she's had some other "issues", I will spare you the details.  I am counting my blessings since I am the only one who was spared...so far!  We are all just now starting to feel back to "normal".  This flu/virus/whatever has been a real bummer to the beginning of our Summer break.  I am hoping we can be done with this sickness so we can enjoy the rest of the Summer and especially Sean's birthday and our trip to visit Papa and Grandma coming up soon and my sister's visit, which is also coming up soon!

Lily fell asleep on me a couple days ago!  It was so sweet!  She doesn't do that very often anymore, but she wasn't feeling well and she needed the rest.

 I decided to take a gamble so to speak and I ordered two cloth pocket diapers from alvababy.  They are a company in China.  I really didn't want to order from China, but I have heard so many good things about their diapers and they ship free and their prices are great!  Also, they have bamboo inserts and I really want to start using all bamboo and stop using the microfiber, so I went ahead and ordered two diapers and 6 bamboo inserts.  I am very happy with my purchase and it only took a week and a half for my diapers to get here all the way from China!

 I have to say there is just something therapeutic about hanging my clean diapers out on the line to air dry in the sun.  Makes me happy to see them gently blowing in the breeze.

 I mentioned in my post about washing the washing machine that I was going to make my own laundry detergent and I did!  I mixed 1 cup super washing soda, 1 cup borax, and 1 bar grated fels-naptha soap.  Grating that soap took some time, but it smells so good!  However, in the future instead of the soap I am going to use 1/2 cup of oxyclean powder.  Much easier to mix and it has a softer, pleasant smell also and it takes the place of the soap.  So far I really like the way it cleans our clothes!  I use between 2 tablespoons and 1/4 cup of laundry powder in each load and I pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into the fabric softener dispenser and our clothes smell clean and feel soft!
