School Supplies!

Well Sean starts all day, everyday Kindergarten this Fall! I am nervous about it, but I am hoping he will do well. He just seems so little! Plus, he still takes an afternoon nap! I think those are going to be long days for him and I just hope he isn't exhausted and hard to deal with when he comes home at the end of the day. I have my fears that I haven't given him enough freedom or taught him how to be independent enough. He will have to learn to eat his lunch by himself...not that he can't feed himself, but I just mean he has to be responsible for his food and get it eaten without my reminding him and be able to take care of his stuff. I hope that all makes sense. I'm sure it will all work out, it's just a much bigger deal than Preschool was.

Anyway, he got to pick his lunch box/bag and thermos. Spiderman of course! The thermos is actually really nice and does not leak or "sweat", so that is great! It's supposed to keep liquids hot or cold for 12 hours.

Here are his new gym shoes. They are non-marking. I was surprised since they are black soles. Again Spiderman, and they light up! I told him he has to learn to tie his shoes soon because before too long he won't be able to get shoes in his size with Velcro. But we thought it would be easier for him for now...

He picked out a How To Train Your Dragon backpack. We still need to see that movie...

Here are more school supplies. The list for his school/class included two packs of white copy paper, two boxes of tissues, Clorox wipes, and gallon sized Ziploc baggies.

Here are the rest of his things... a hard pencil box, 4-pack of Expo dry-erase markers, two Elmer's glue, two glue sticks, Crayola markers, 2-dozen #2 pencils, Crayola colored pencils, 2-packs of 24 Crayola crayons, Fiskars scissors for kids, two pink erasers, and Prang water color paints. We also got a sandwich box for his lunch box. I thought it was interesting that some of the item details and brands on the list were very specific!

  1. School supplies shopping is so fun! It will definitely be an adjustment for Sean but he will do fine!

  2. I know here they eat in the lunch room and there are lunch ladies patrolling around making sure the kids aren't acting crazy etc. Although we don't have all day kindergarten here, so I don't know if he will eat lunch in the classroom or in the lunch room with the other kids. When Zane was in kindergarten he went to school for breakfast in the mornings because of my work schedule, and he rode the bus for part of the year. He handled it very well, and he can be total space cadet sometimes. I'm sure Sean will adjust well.

    When does school start?

  3. I really am not sure how everything will "go down", but I am sure it will be fine. I guess it's just a mama's job to worry about things :-)

We were in the process of moving and did not make it to the Kindergarten "round-up" back in April. Actually we didn't know about it till after the fact, but I am sure I would have a lot more info about everything and feel more at ease if we'd known about it and gone.

Registration/enrollment is Aug 3. I called a couple different times this Summer to get info, but come to find out there was no one in the office all Summer, so the 3rd is when I can actually contact someone and get the info I need/want :-) We got his school list from Walmart though...

  4. Oh I understand completely! I'm sure that Raegan is going to adjust just fine to being in child care, but I still worry. Part of the mom package I suppose!
